Silicon, III-Nitrides, spin opto-electronics, LEDs and Lasers, phononic crystals, energy efficient devices

debashreebanerjee

My present research efforts are directed towards enhancing the thermoelectric performance of III-Nitride materials. Earlier I  was working as a Researcher at Uppsala University, Department of Engineering Sciences on a project on Silicon phononics for energy harvesting applications. Prior to that I have been a research scholar under the IITB-Monash Research Academy at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) in the Department of Electrical Engineering. During my graduate research days I have tinkered with III-Nitride based opto-electonics and III-V spintronic materials and devices. It is exciting to engage in research that is generally oriented towards technology application, while maintaining an emphasis on understanding the underlying physical phenomena. In future, I would like to use that understanding in solving research challenges in the field of energy efficient solid state devices.

Although my work is an important part of my existance, however I cannot do without my other interests: travel and photography. They are all essential for me and bring me joy and satisfaction.
